The “coming” referred to by Jesus in John 21 refers, “not till his second coming to judge the quick and the dead at the last day” but the coming “in his power … on the Jewish nation, in the destruction of their city and temple by the Romans [in AD 70].”
We don’t live under a king or a Caesar. Our governing document is the Constitution. We have the freedom to vote civil officials out of office. We can petition the government for a redress of grievances. The Ninth and Tenth Amendments limit the national government.
People who engage in same-sex behavior must decide what side of the moral wall they are on. If they decide to abandon God, then homosexuality is just something evolved bags of meat and bones with an evolved monkey brain do. There is no right or wrong about anything. No hate crimes. No murder. No theft. No rape. No adultery. No prohibition against sex with children of any age.
The following are some of the notes for a book I’m writing on the moral argument for the existence of God. In a debate on subjects where there are fundamental disagreements, a number of basic preliminaries must first be established before a meaningful discussion can take place. A certain factory worker had the responsibility of […]
Politics gets stranger and stranger. Who would have thought that same-sex sexuality would become a political selling point? But it has. Chicago just elected a lesbian mayor. South Bend, Indiana, elected Pete Buttigieg who is married to a man. “My marriage to Chasten,” Buttigieg said in a speech at LGBTQ Victory Fund National Champagne Brunch […]
There has been considerable debate over the best way to interpret the three-days and three-nights language of Matthew 12:40, either as three 24-hour days of exactly 72 hours or parts of three days and three nights. Because you can’t get three full days if the count begins on Friday, some interpreters have argued for a two-Sabbath […]
Politics gets the lion’s share of attention these days. Give the State enough power and authority and all will be right with the world. Empowering civil government as the ultimate change agent is to destabilize society and turn the people into wards of the State. Leftists are always talking about people with too much power […]
“You shall not steal” is a fundamental biblical commandment that’s found in both Testaments (Ex. 20:15; 21:16; Lev. 19:11, 13; Matt. 19:18; Rom. 13:9). If property is theft, as one Christian stated on his Facebook page, then every person in the world is a thief because everyone owns something. If property is theft and civil […]
Communism has attracted a number of people in Hollywood, from Dalton Trumbo and Burgess Meredith to modern-day communist sympathizers like Sean Penn and Matthew Modine. While they would not support the oppressive actions of Communist regimes, they do like the utopian dreams of Communist theorists. Of course, to get to the fictional OZ, there are […]
There are some Christians who take themselves out of the battle over worldviews by using the Bible for cover. They believe the Bible teaches that Christians should stay above the fray of cultural involvement. I’ve dealt with many of the arguments for this position in my book Myths, Lies, and Half-Truths.1 A pastor in Auburn, […]
President Trump tweeting support for instituting Bible literacy courses in public schools has many conservatives and Christians cheering. The idea recalls for many an era when American children read the Bible and everyone was more moral. This is indeed the path to make America great again, many think. While the idea certainly captures the nostalgia […]
Will the heavens really be “rolled up like a scroll”? Understanding the theology and imagery of the expanse will help us understand several passages about the heavens and eschatology / last days much better. Get the audio version here.

Aside from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ himself, developing a biblical worldview is perhaps the most important part of the Christian life. It is crucial to understanding everything in life, from your personal faith to the public square, from your family and education to your work or business, from the church house to the […]
American Vision flash position paper No. 3 A reader asked me to state clearly what I mean when I say “social justice.” I have intended to do just that anyway, so, let me state clearly what I mean. When I say “social justice” in a positive light, I mean biblical justice according to God’s law. […]
The UK’s Telegraph claimed Friday that they had disproved the Bible: “Study disproves the Bible’s suggestion that the ancient Canaanites were wiped out.” The story and its fake headline have gone viral.1 Editor’s Note: Since the publication of Gary’s original article (below), among many others, the Telegraph was so hounded by public outcry from Christians pointing […]
There are already plenty of accusations that the Orlando terror attack was a conspiracy, involving crisis actors, impossible feats with a gun for a single shooter, a clear political agenda, etc. Here is my response to this. Let me just say that on the off chance something like this were true, it would not surprise […]
Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has become, contrary to the Constitution, our nation’s de facto law-making body based on the moral relativism of evolution. A nation of 325 million people is now governed by the whims of four, soon to be five, unelected Supreme Court Justices. It does not matter if a decision from the Supreme […]
