Gary comments on a recent speech by Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker on this episode of The Gary DeMar Podcast.

The only conservative branch of American Christianity that has worked to develop a full political ethic has been the Christian Reconstruction movement, and it has been a tiny minority rejected by the balance of the evangelical world. The vast majority of others have followed the drifts (either left or right) of the mainstream political world, or offered some baptized version of Socialist or Marxist theories, which is not much different.

This leaves us once again just as vulnerable as the Baptist churches under the Nazi regime, and with pretty much the same theology in place. One may be quick to point out that we are far from anything like the “final solution” of Nazi Germany. Others will be just a quick to reply that abortion is our own far greater Holocaust, and our incinerators run just as regularly as those in Auschwitz, only in every major city. It is hard to escape that judgment, is it not? After a generation or so of sitting by or waiting to work “within the system,” may we not at least introduce the idea of Christian subversion? It has a rather long and rich history, often coated in blood, if we are ready to listen.

The time has come to realize that in this tyrannical world, the commands of our Lord are often indeed subversive. Every Christian therefore has to face the self-conscious choice, in every area of life, to be those who obey God or those who obey man. It is equally hard therefore to escape what is perhaps the most probing question Dr. Linder presents in his book: “In the context of present-day American democracy, what are we?”

God or Caesar?

God or Caesar?

These essays make clear that radically biblical Christians who take the commands of Christ with utmost seriousness often have become subversive in the eyes of the state for one main reason: a Christian’s highest loyalty is always to God rather than to a mere secular order and he lives by values often at odds with those of the state.

Gary comments on a recent speech by Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker. The governor uses inflammatory rhetoric to disparage (and warn it seems) Republicans about potential reprisals if they continue on their current path. He also refers to those who support President Trump as “quislings” that will not be tolerated.
