Matthew Dowd who was the chief strategist for the re-election campaign of former President George W. Bush who’s now running as a Democrat in the Texas lieutenant governor’s race implied in a tweet that conservatives and Republicans would criticize Jesus as being “woke” if He were alive today. Given the definition of being woke, Jesus would denounce it since it’s being used to promote racial division in the name of “social justice.”

Judas was and would be woke: “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?” (John 12:5).

The Bible in the hands of tyrants is a dangerous thing. See this clever video produced by Darren Doane:

This was Dowd’s Tweet:

As I sat in church today I was thinking that if Jesus were here today he would be accused of being woke. How about we just say it is human decency to treat all with respect and dignity and that it is constitutional to say all men and women are equal.

This is a curious comment since the people who claim to be woke are often the least respectful and decent toward people who disagree with them. For example, Franklin Graham underwent heart surgery. What did these “respectful” wokesters tweet?

· Are they implanting one to fill the empty hole?

· Getting rid of the black one…

· He obviously didn’t pray hard enough.

· So he couldnt pray for it to heal itself and had to rely on science??? The horror!

· Bless his bigoted, racist heart.

To disagree publicly with an ideological position that’s described as being “woke” will get you fired and cancelled. It happens every day. For example, “Reporting on the horrific persecution Christian minorities experience in the Muslim word is a ‘punishable’ offense for Facebook, as that topic falls beneath the social media giant’s ‘standards.’” PayPal repeatedly cancels accounts of people they do not agree with.

Restoring the Foundation of Civilization

Restoring the Foundation of Civilization

The main reason anti-Christian civilizationists survive and seem to thrive is that Christians have not engaged with, answered, and built a competing alternative culture—THE ORIGINAL CIVILIZATION—founded on the principles found in God’s Word and observable in creation. Action by Christians can fix this problem by simple obedience to God’s law. If wolves in sheep clothing are a problem for the people of God, then what should we think of wolves who identify as wolves and want to supplant Christian civilization founded on materialist operating assumptions?

Then there’s this: “Leaders at one of the largest investment firms in the world, State Street Global Advisors, will need to ask permission to hire White men as it rolls out a diversity hiring initiative.” This is blatant discrimination from a company working to be ultra-woke.

Let’s get back to Jesus. To be woke is to support abortion on demand. The Bible does not support abortion as I point out in “Abortion, Jewish Philosophy, and Bible Translations.” Jesus upheld the Hebrew Scriptures:

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 5:17–20).

When the pregnant Elizabeth met with the pregnant Mary, the baby in Elizabeth’s womb responded in a conscious way (Luke 1:41). Do woke abortion advocates treat those who oppose abortion with “human decency … respect and dignity”? They do not. In addition, unborn babies—male and female—are not considered to be constitutionally equal.

Men and women are not equal in all things. Sports are a good test of the unequal nature of men and women. Forcing women’s sports to accept men who claim to be women is not equality. Equal before the law? Yes. Who says otherwise? The Bible is clear on this point.

Being woke means supporting homosexuality and same-sex marriage. Would Jesus be “woke” on these fire-breathing areas of disagreement? Absolutely not. We’re back to His opinion on the law. Jesus said that the second greatest commandment is “‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF’” (Mark 12:31). Jesus is quoting from the book of Leviticus (19:18), the same biblical book that condemns homosexuality in chapters 18 (v. 22) and 20 (v. 13). You can’t be woke unless you accept the entire LGBTQ+ panoply of gender options. Jesus made it clear that there are only two sexes: “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female” (Matt. 19:4; Gen. 1:27; 5:2). This means that Jesus would also oppose same-sex marriage.

He would call on those engaged in such practices to stop and “sin no more” (John 8:11). In a sense, Jesus would treat everyone—male and female—equally.

Jesus was very hard on hypocrites. He spent an entire chapter on them (Matt. 23). Those promoting “human decency” and treating “all with respect and dignity” are the biggest hypocrites. They are the worst offenders.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well (vv. 25–26).

Is today’s church perfect? Not in the least, but at least we have a fixed moral standard to evaluate our beliefs and behaviors. The woke crowd has no such standard but the love of self.
