We do not know what a political candidate will do once in office. God did tell Samuel what Israel’s choice of a king would do, and the people still wanted this king (1 Sam. 8). We know what the Democrats have in store for us. We also know what establishment Republicans have in store for us. (I wrote some of this article in 2016. Substitute “Kamala” for “Hillary” where necessary. The actions of both are identical.)
In full disclosure, I voted for Ted Cruz in the 2016 primaries. I was not a Trump supporter. I’m quite aware of the “no lesser of two evils” paradigm promoted by many. The problem is no one is without evil. This means that we are always voting for the lesser of two evils. The Bible says, “All of sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). And what’s the extent of that “fallen short”?
“All are under sin; as it is written, ‘THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE [Ps. 14:1-3; 53:1-3]. THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE [Ps. 5:9], WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING, THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS [Ps. 140:3]; WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS [Ps. 10:7]; THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN [Isa 59:7-8]. THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES [Ps. 36:1]” (Rom. 3:10-18).
The above is not just a description of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris; it’s a description of all of us to a greater or lesser degree. The history of the Judges period is another indicator of how bad civil rulers can be. Let’s not forget the religious and political indictments described in the Major and Minor Prophets. There are some bright spots, especially with how Daniel impacted Babylon. Even so, it was eventually overthrown.
Restoring the Foundation of Civilization
The main reason anti-Christian civilizationists survive and seem to thrive is that Christians have not engaged with, answered, and built a competing alternative culture—THE ORIGINAL CIVILIZATION—founded on the principles found in God’s Word and observable in creation. Moreover, many Christians don’t believe there can be or should be a Christian civilization, so they send their children off to the local government school that is anti-Christian believing that facts are neutral and public education is free. Such thinking comes at a terrible cost.
Buy NowKing David, the man God chose to rule Israel and be the person through whom the promised Messiah would come (Matt. 1:1, 6), committed adultery and was an accomplice to murder (2 Sam. 11-12).
The following was said of Solomon who was also in the genealogy through whom Jesus came (Matt. 1:7): “Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, nor shall one like you arise after you” (1 Kings 3:12). And yet Solomon violated nearly every prohibition limiting the authority and power of the king of Israel (1 Kings 10-11). It’s said that “Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not follow the Lord fully, as David his father had done” (11:6). Notice how David is described even with knowledge of his past sins.
As things now stand, we are either going to get the evil that’s Kamala or the evil that’s Trump. I realize that there are those who are trying to wrest the nomination from Trump. This will only mean that we will get the evil of an Establishment Republican in November. There will be a rebellion of Trump supporters and anti-Establishment Republican voters.
Why do I believe Trump is a viable option? First, he’s not Hillary Clinton. The Clintons have deep political ties in the media, the Democrat Party, and foreign countries. Trump does not. The Clinton foundation has been paid tens of millions of dollars for political favors.
Second, the Democrats and Establishment Republicans despise Trump. They would serve as a check on any outrageous policies he might propose. This would not be the case with Hillary. Democrats would almost unanimously support her while a fair number of left-of-center Republicans would join them.
Third, Hillary would extend the policies began under President Obama. It would mean more abortions, more restrictions on religious liberty, more illegal aliens, more gun control, more taxes, more spending. Just put the word “more” before anything Obama has done, and do it for at least four years.
Fourth, Hillary would extend the eight-year judicial nomination process begun by Obama and extend it another four years, maybe eight. She would most likely nominate two new justices from the shaky conservative side of the Supreme Court. Democrat appointees almost always vote liberal, while Republican nominees can’t always be trusted (e.g., Roberts and Kennedy). With two more Democrat appointees, there will be no way to stop an unconstitutional Supreme Court from ruling unconstitutionally and Congress doing nothing about it.
Fifth, Hillary accuses conservatives of engaging in a “war on women.” Bill Clinton is the perpetrator of that war. It’s shocking that so many so-called feminists are “With Her” when a number of women have come forward accusing her husband of rape.
Sixth, like Obama, Hillary is an Islamist apologist. Huma Abedin is a Muslim insider who is “the co-chair of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and a person likely to have significant influence in a Hillary Clinton White House. Huma Abedin has had murky associations in the past with the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs, which not only is a radical Islamist group in its own right but, as Breitbart has reported, was ‘located in the offices of Saudi Arabia’s Muslim World League.’” (Source) Islamist actions in the United States were downplayed by the Obama administration. Here’s just one example.
Seventh, a warning from Murray N. Rothbard originally published in 1994:
“Now obviously, and of course, a lot of this is Hillary’s drive to “reinvent” herself, that is, to create a duplicitous false image, to make herself less threatening to the angry American public. And surely the late-nineteenth-century Social Gospelers would be horrified at the current multi-gendered, condomaniacal Clintonian left, to say nothing of the rapid revolving of poor John Wesley in his eighteenth-century English grave. But there is definitely a direct line of descent from the Methodist Social Gospelers of the nineteenth century to St. Hillary and the monstrous Clintonian left. Mix into ‘old-fashioned Methodism’ liberal doses of Marxism, the New Left, the pagan pantheist New Age, and the multicultural and sexual revolutions, stir briskly, and you get the current ruling horror that we all face, and are trying to roll back out of our lives. We face, in short, regardless of what hairdo or persona she affects next week, the evil Witch in the White House.” (Source)
Donald Trump may not be the best of political candidates, but Kamala Harris and what she brings to the political table will be far worse. Her administration will be an extension of the administrations of Clinton, Obama, and Biden. We also know what the Democrat Party is all about. We also know how entrenched the bureaucratic state is. Trump is such a threat that the Democrats (and some Establishment Republicans) would like to see him “taken out.” For example, “Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said Wednesday on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ that former President Donald Trump should be extinguished from politics, which she clarified meant ‘vote him out.’” She and others know that there are enough crazies out there who don’t vote but who understand what “take him out” means. Have you noticed that there is almost no mention of the mass shooting that occurred in June of 2017 during a practice session for the annual Congressional Baseball Game in Alexandria, Virginia. James Hodgkinson was a Democrat supporter of Bernie Sanders. On May 22, 2017, Hodgkinson wrote “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.” Here’s the thing. “The attack drew a bipartisan response as many politicians immediately sent out notes expressing their anger over the shooting.” Have you noticed that there has been near silence from Democrats and their fellow Leftists in the Trump assassination attempts? Consider this unhinged Democrat.
Will a Trump presidency disappoint us? You can count on it. And you can count on a Harris-Walz presidency to disappoint even more. Like King Saul, we know what Harris and Co. will do. We are seeing it right before out eyes: “Biden-Harris DOJ Seeks Jail Time For Pro-Lifers Convicted Over Peaceful Protest.” Compare this to Shellyne Rodriguez.
It seems that many conservatives and Christians don’t vote. “The newest polling from renowned pollster George Barna finds that only 59% of practicing Christians say they will vote in the November 5 election. If churchgoing Christians make up 80 million of America’s 333 million people, that means only 48 million practicing Christians are headed to the polls.”
Government 101: The Politics of Authority
Government 101 is deep-dive into government and authority. The course material spans centuries and investigates many forms of government. Your understanding of what it means to be "under authority," will be shifted and your view of ruling and rulers will be enriched. You will come to see the inescapable nature of government, and how man tends to impose authority from the top-down while God's governmental structure is bottom-up.
Buy NowThe easy answer is that many of these “Christians” are Name Only Christians. Their worldview has been shaped by surrounding secularism. Consider the following:
As discouraging as these numbers are [about voting], they get worse the more one digs into Barna’s polling.
Take, for instance, the startingly high number (42%) of Christians who support abortion on demand — that is the right to an “abortion under any circumstance.” That’s an alarmingly high number of proclaimed Christians willing to accept the killing of an innocent baby, no matter the reason.
If Christian-backed abortion isn’t disturbing enough, nearly one-third (29%) of American Christians say they prefer socialism to capitalism. Yes, they accept the secular ideology responsible for tens, if not hundreds, of millions of deaths over the past century, rather than a system that incentivizes accountability. (Source)
It is also alarming that more than half (56%) of Christians reject absolute moral truth despite it being conveyed through scripture — claiming that “identifying moral truth is up to each individual; there are no moral absolutes that apply to everyone, all the time.”
Although these numbers are shocking, it’s not surprising that America’s moral decline barely registers as an issue this election, as only 23% of churched Christians consider moral decline a “defining issue.”
Political candidates know where the votes are. Yes, Christians are attacked along with Christian Nationalism, but in the full sweep of political participation, Christians are not seen as a strong voting bloc. We’re back to the pre-Reagan years. Pulpits are generally silent when it comes to preaching on politics even though the Bible is filled with politics. The era of Election Sermons is over. I would love to see a poll taken on how much eschatology fits into political indifference. “Why bother? Jesus is coming soon! All the signs are in place.”
