This is for those who accuse theonomists of wanting to grab the seats of power and impose God’s law on society by force. Of course, I have debunked this more than once, and no theonomist I know has ever called for this. Yet our critics continue.
Today on his website, Gary North—who is most often accused of wanting to impose the fallacious nonsense just mentioned—wrote in response to a true economic-doomsday prophet Paul Farrell. Farrell believes another great economic crash is coming—a crash bigger than the 2002 dot-com crash and the 2008 meltdown put together. He believes social anarchy will result and a second American Revolution will erupt. Gary responds (note to critics: please pay attention here):
Farrell thinks there will be a second American Revolution. I hope not. The first one led to what we have now. We need an evolution: a quiet decentralization. No violence. No taking up arms against the U.S. government. Just a quiet forsaking of it when it runs out of money. When the checks stop coming, we will have our great opportunity.
I often say that when theonomy prevails you will see the biggest rollback of tyrannical government in human history—the greatest tightening of the bands limiting government power we have ever seen. Gary confirms this, and I agree with his path of how to get there.
