It’s not enough that—as I wrote about yesterday—Pelosi has censored all voices of opposition to Obama’s health care in Congress, now we learn that liberals are trying to stack the town hall meetings with liberal-only supporters in order to “cover” their representatives at the town halls so that “the right message” (allegedly their message alone) gets out, and only those “who support their favored reforms” get heard.
The report says,
HCAN — whose members include ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, the AFL-CIO, the Service Employees International Union, the National Education Association and the National Council of La Raza — issued [SEIU] some instructions of their own. The memo, e-mailed Tuesday to HCAN’s 120 field staffers in 44 states, encourages activists to contact elected officials before public events to plan ways to pre-empt the opposition.
“Ask the Member’s staff what would be most helpful and talk through a strategy for making sure the right messages don’t get drowned out by chaotic protesters,” field director Margarida Jorge advised. The memo’s introduction says she has “years of union organizing experience” and has “laid out tactics for people attending town halls to follow to blunt the right.”…
“Address the [member of Congress] directly with a positive message: Remember, these Members need cover and they are getting beaten up by right wing zealots in these meetings.”
No wonder fights are breaking out at these things. Not to mention that incident in St. Louis where a conservative black guy gets punched and called a “n—-r” for selling “Don’t Tread On Me.” The perpetrators, turns out, belong to the very SEIU mentioned above that has been organizing these events. Are these big O’s henchmen, or will our Reconciler-in-Chief say they “acted stupidly” and invite all parties to the White House for a beer?
Looks like we need a national discussion on “Patriot Profiling.”
