Some Christians groups finally begin to speak out in regard to the Henry Gates-Sgt. Crowley-Obama controversy over the false accusations of racial profiling—only to show why Christians almost always botch, bungle, and totally embarrass the nation in the name of Christ once again.
Presented with a perfect opportunity to deal with political integrity, racialism, and a whole range of other issues that thirst for Christian wisdom, what do these outspoken groups think most important to point out? Not the issues of race or national policy, but the mere fact that Obama is serving beer. That’s right. The groups Praying at the Pump and the Woman’s Christian Temperance Movement are calling for lemonade instead.
What a contribution to the national dialogue! Let the whole nation go up in flaming riot or leftist exploitation, and these brave Christian soldiers will be there to sanctify the nation’s soul… by making sure nobody drinks. We’ll tax ourselves to death, dumb our children down in government schools, punish productivity, reward sloth and failure with government bailouts, and on and on… but by God, we’ll be sober doing it.
Please, read Ken Gentry’s God Gave Wine, and for your own sake, have a beer. Then, start with Gary DeMar’s God and Government series, and begin to learn how Christians can really get involved in healing a nation.
Tomorrow, I will have a lengthy article on the Gates-Crowley-Obama incident with full commentary on why, as Attorney General Eric Holder puts it, we are a “nation of cowards” on the issue of race.
