American Vision is committed to developing and applying the Biblical worldview to every area of life. Our motto is “Exercising Servanthood Dominion,” in accordance with the two mandates given to us in Genesis 1:28 and Matthew 28:18-20. These mandates instruct us to “Bring forth fruit and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it…teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” (1599 Geneva Bible)
In keeping with these mandates, we seek to encourage our staff members to be fruitful and multiply and raise culture-changers. One important way we do this is by providing a family-friendly work environment and holding a high regard for the health care benefits of our staff members. In the past four years alone, former and current staff members have welcomed eight babies into their families, and this significantly increased our health insurance rates.
Premiums with our standard health insurance company rose dramatically, forcing us to lower coverage and increase deductibles. It was a hassle-laden process to change insurance carriers, and eventually we had to raise the portion paid by the individual staff members. As you know, our staff is making a financial sacrifice to serve here (knowing they are building wages in heaven), and we were sincerely concerned that the health insurance rates were forcing them to drop coverage all together.
We investigated the idea of changing our health care benefits from an insurance carrier to the health care sharing program offered by Samaritan Ministries, and there were a lot of questions. Samaritan not only provided answers, but assured our staff that Samaritan does not make arbitrary decisions. We were impressed with their professionalism, proven strategy, and with their willingness to consider unique and extenuating circumstances.
Samaritan has made it possible for the Body of Christ to join together in unity to assist each other with the costs of health care. American Vision has reduced our costs by 50 percent, our deductible was reduced more than $4,000 per occurrence, and the extent to which we can help our employees with health care expenses has improved. Additionally, we have the assurance that members are living a moral lifestyle, that our hard-earned income is not going to pay for procedures or condone practices we know to be immoral and unwise, and that we have thousands of prayer warriors bringing health concerns and conditions before the Throne, making us wonder why we did not make the transition sooner!
American Vision is fully committed to our decision to join Samaritan Ministries and we urge you to prayerfully consider becoming a member as well. The newly enacted federal health care law will require all Americans to comply with a nationalized health care program that will offer funds to immoral programs and procedures. Due to the tireless efforts of Samaritan, participants in a health care sharing ministry such as Samaritan will be exempt from this requirement. More than ever, Samaritan Ministries offers the opportunity for the church to unite in Christ-like love, dividing our burdens between us (Galatians 6:2).
Please prayerfully consider joining AV and Samaritan Ministries International in caring for one another’s health care needs!
