This has been American Vision’s most challenging year to date, and yet we have also witnessed some of our greatest developments as well. I want to share with you what God is doing, and what the future holds!
I am happy to share with you two major announcements:
The Worldview Study Bible App
First, (and finally!) the Worldview Study Bible App will become a tangible reality. We have secured a special gift which will cover the total needed for software development. I have also secured a contract with a talented, able, and like-minded developer who is ready and eager to get the job done.
In short, in 6 to 9 months, we should have the first beta version of the Worldview Study Bible App and website available.
The goal of this project has been to create a full worldview study Bible in electronic format, annotated and linked to materials, resources, audio, video, and more from American Vision and other select sources.
This app will operate similarly to other electronic Bible Apps, with split screens for reading Scripture along with relevant notes, commentary, or other resources. Our notes, however, will cover all aspects of life: government, law, economics, apologetics, eschatology, and much, much more. With the design and features we have planned, the potential for expansion and updates will be unlimited.
While there are many Study Bibles out there, there are actually few apps—and nothing like this. And while some Study Bibles claim to address “worldview,” there is nothing that even comes close to the comprehensive nature of the Reformed world- and life-view represented in ours.
Best of all, thanks to the generosity of our donors and authors, our Worldview Study Bible App and website will both be fully accessible for FREE.
That’s right: the American Vision Worldview Study Bible will be FREE.
Long-time American Vision readers will know that this project has been a long time in coming. After all the wait, and tons of work (believe me!) behind the scenes in both writing and networking, we have finally cleared the biggest hurdle to date—funding the actual coding and design of the software—and can now confidently say this project will become a downloadable reality soon.
We still have a lot of work to do. Our special funding has secured software development, but we still need your help with data management, further commentary, data entry, and more. We have raised $75,000 that is already earmarked for development. We need another $50,000 for other needs related to the completion of the project. Please consider a generous donation to American Vision to help us finish in both a timely and top-quality fashion.
I’ll have much more to show and tell in the coming weeks and months. For now, I just wanted to share the good news and to give you an opportunity to join in supporting the final phases of this project.
Our 40th Anniversary
Our second big announcement: Next year will mark American Vision’s 40th Anniversary! We are in the beginning stages of planning a big biblical worldview shindig. Do you remember the “Super” Conferences of 2008 and 2009? We will be looking to hold something that big next year at least once, perhaps even more in regional variations.
Since our founding in 1979, American Vision has taught faithfully the full counsel of God centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the law of God. We have taught America’s Christian heritage, biblical worldview, biblical apologetics, biblical eschatology and prophecy, biblical self-government, family, economics, business, markets, money and more.
As we look forward to planning our celebrations next year, we envision not merely giving thanks, but planning to teach just as faithfully for the next 40, and to expand applications of God’s law in society into new horizons: biblical theology, criminal justice reform, more on localism, entrepreneurship, leadership, activism, human trafficking, and more.
Again, none of this work is accomplished without your help. Please consider helping to launch us into our 40th year of ministry with your most generous donation today.
Shall we overcome?
You support is especially needed today not only for our positive projects lying ahead, but because American Vision has been under attack from various forces set against us.
Last fall and this year as well, several leftist companies have withdrawn or denied service to us, citing us as an official SPLC “hate group”—Apple pay, PayPal, Amazon Smile, and others. Apparently, such left-leaning companies believe Christians should be forced to bake their homosexual wedding cakes, but they shouldn’t have to serve us.
Most damaging was Stripe Payment Systems, which accounted for the vast majority of our online recurring donations. They pulled service from us on short notice, and we were left scrambling and picking up the pieces. After multiple attempts, we have not been able to reconnect with a substantial portion of our previous recurring donors.
We have also been attacked by a collage of racist and neo-racist forces. I won’t go into all of the detail, but largely because of the truth in my book The Problem of Slavery in Christian America, a group of dedicated neo-confederate-type opponents spread false rumors and attempted to sabotage American Vision through back door and underhanded activity. One former supporter literally attempted to bribe me to stop writing about “the race issue” and “the Jewish question” with large donations.
When I refused all these forces, concurrently, a small but still significant amount of funds stopped coming in from multiple supporters.
On the one hand, I am glad to see them go. Who wants closet racists hiding under the umbrella of your good will, using the language of your worldview as code to hide their wrongs?
I would not stand for it. I knew full well there would be a price for standing for the truth. I was willing to pay it. But we have indeed had to pay it.
My question for you today is, Shall the liberals win? Shall the racists win? Shall we roll over and give up, and let the collusion of humanists and cowardly, fringe hatemongers drag down and destroy the work of biblical worldview built over 40 years?
I know what my answer to that is. I know I will not quit, submit, lie down, roll over, give up, or even shut up. But I need your support now more than ever before. If we are to survive these attacks, I need your help now.
Despite all these attacks and shortfalls, American Vision has not ceased in productivity and faithfulness. We have produced multiple resources throughout this time. Books alone include the following:
- Gary DeMar, Something Greater is Here
- Robert D. Linder, God or Caesar?: Case Studies in Christian Subversion of Tyranny
- Gary DeMar, The Truth About the Rapture: A Bible Study
- And a freshly typeset version of Abraham Kuyper’s Lectures on Calvinism (a worldview classic!)
We have also teamed up with my friend, common lawyer Brent Allan Winters, to carry his great study, The Excellence of the Common Law (almost 1000 pages!) as well as his related studies on the Jury, the Militia, Police, and the U.S. Constitution. I cannot recommend these resources—all of them—highly enough.
We have also continued producing quality articles multiple times per week. We started a new podcast called The Devoted Word, dedicated to a biblical-theological commentary on all of Scripture (if you think this material may eventually find its way into the Worldview Study Bible App, you’re thinking the right way!).
Likewise, we have continued advancing the truths addressed in The Problem of Slavery in Christian America. Not only is this 462-page book truly an eye-opening, hard-hitting, and unprecedented resource, it provides a real-world case example of the need for God’s law in social issues, every area of life, and what happens when a conservative, Bible-professing culture neglects that law in crucial areas in the name of Bible-believing Christianity.
Believe it or not, the history shows that the earliest attempts to stop the slavery issue in American were based squarely and solely on the law of God, and they would have stopped it indeed. It was precisely the rejection of key aspects of God’s law that allowed it to bloom into the system that later invited judgement and destruction.
As such, the history provides an instructive case example for today. This history, therefore, highlights the special importance and crucial role of unique ministries like American Vision today.
And we have accomplished all of this, against opposition, in addition to completing the negotiations and other work needed to advance the Worldview Study Bible.
While we have done all of this, the attacks of liberals, leftists, racists, liars, conspirators, and others together has cost us almost $100,000 in funding. This hit just so happens to coincide with the approach of some of the most momentous projects we have ever advanced. This is nothing short of the work of the Devil attacking one of the foremost, cutting-edge teaching ministries in existence today.
Shall we overcome? Absolutely! Let’s overcome now and for another 40 years to come. But I need your help to do so. Please consider helping us defend our ministry, build our future, and prosper our most promising projects. Please make your most generous donation to American Vision today.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
