‘The Ides of March’ Movie Review

Movieology: Ides of March Thumbnail

Under-handed backstabbing, hypocrisy, intrigue, and blackmail. These are not vices — they’re just standard politics. Ryan Gosling is put through the ringer trying to do everything to keep one scandal after another under wraps and away from the press in the Mike Morris campaign. But can he do this without crossing the line in the sand? How does the ‘The Ides of March’ challenge all of our credences with earnest drama? Is this just another liberal spin on truth, justice, and the American way? Find out now on Movieology!

Health Care tyranny: lesser of two evils for Dems

The talk about Pelosi trying to get the needed number of votes to pass the Senate version of the Health Care bill is pointless. She has already said she favors “deem and pass” in the event they do not. She may even favor this dubious tactic even if she does have the votes. The gentlemen in [...]

We Have Only Ourselves to Blame

Don’t blame “the government.” Don’t blame Democrats or Republicans. Pogo said it best: “We have met the enemy and he is us.” We get the government we want. This is the reason Ted Kennedy was in office for more than 40 years. A majority of people in Massachusetts voted for him. He was the titan of big government, and people loved him for it, even though any other politician would have been run out of office after the Mary Jo Kopechne affair. Kennedy’s ability to bring home the bacon blurred their ability of see his legislative record through the Constitution. They were enamored with Camelot, a fictional story of what the Kennedy’s were not. It’s all about the pork. Actually, it’s about the stealing of pork and using elected government officials to do it for us. Stealing money from a neighbor in one state to fund the education of a child in another state will get you arrested. But if you elect enough congressmen to do it, you’re a “progressive.” Like children, we lack self-control. We want what’s not ours. If we are ever going to turn this nation around, we must understand the makeup of self-government.

Why Liberals (Sometimes) Love the Bible

Liberals will use anything to support their unsupportable worldview, even if it’s the Bible. They will use the Bible when they can manipulate it enough to fit their agenda. How many times have you had a liberal throw Matthew 7:1 back at you when you mention that some particular behavior is immoral? “Remember what Jesus said, ‘Do not judge.’” When you criticize a piece of unconstitutional legislation or a law that the president wants passed, you’ll have “render unto Caesar” (Matt. 22:21) thrown in your face.

Changing America Without Politicians

In 1982 I wrote my first book: God and Government: A Biblical and Historical Study. It begins with the operating premise that government is not synonymous with politics. Slef-government under God is the basis of social change. When people change, everything they put their mind and hands to will change. Have you noticed in the [...]

Who are the Real Brownshirts?

Congressman Brian Baird, a Democrat from Vancouver, Washington, told the Columbian, a newspaper serving Clark County: “What we’re seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics. . . . I mean that very seriously.” On Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show, Baird went even further by claiming that town hall rhetoric was “eerily reminiscent of the kind of things that led Timothy McVeigh to bomb the federal building in Oklahoma.” Congressman Baird should take a gander at this exchange between one of his fellow Democrat colleagues and a medical doctor who lives in Rep. David Scott’s district in Georgia and tell us who the brownshirt is. (This report is the way journalism should be done. Bravo to “11 Alive News” in Atlanta.) Nancy Pelosi stepped in it, although the media are ignoring it, when she claimed that attendees were “carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on healthcare.”

Obama’s Bulldog

I have long since pondered an article called “The Myth of a Mandate,” debunking the liberal mantra that since the November elections when Obama won and liberals captured majorities in both houses of Congress, that this means the people of the United States have given a mandate to the entire liberal social platform with Obama as the poster boy leading the charge.

The First Principles of Economics

What is the first principle of economics? Some economists will claim that it’s supply and demand, while others insist that it’s scarcity or the division of labor. The first principle of economics is “thou shalt not steal.”The word economics is derived from two Greek words: oikos, meaning “house,” and nomos, meaning “law.” Combined we get [...]

One’s Soul for a Political Pottage Mess

“I am a Christian, I am a Protestant, I am a Baptist . . . [and] my own personal religious faith . . . has developed out of my own personal experience in life as well. . . . [T]he tradition of which I’m a part recognizes the importance of personal communication with the deity, along with the lessons that come from Scripture.”

Good Night America

Over the weekend, AMC aired The Godfather (Part 1 and II). I thought this was appropriate given that one of the worst pieces of legislation in the history of our nation was passed by the House and Senate on Friday, February 13, using fear, intimidation, blackmail, and political thuggery. Even John McCain, who admitted Over the weekend, AMC aired The Godfather (Part 1 and II).
