  • We Bought a Zoo ★★★★

    We Bought a Zoo ★★★★

‘We Bought a Zoo’ by Cameron Crowe fell under the hype of the popular holiday films that are still in theaters, but it is no less an exemplary, thoughtful, heart-warming family story that audiences can watch together and learn something while also being entertained with a true story that’s worth retelling. Clearly the best “animal” movie of the year, we take a closer look at the morality tales at play in the life of the Benjamin Mee family that bought a zoo.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol ★★★★

Mission Impossible baffles your mind with it’s larger-than-life daring do’s by the indefatigable spy of the IMF, Ethan Hunt. In this tall tale, he’s up against Russian terrorists that will stop at nothing to destroy mankind. “Oh, my goodness!” So does ‘Ghost Protocol’ prove yet again that there really isn’t such a thing as ‘the impossible’ for these secret agents? Is director Brad Bird’s debut to live-action filmmaking live up to his roster of family-oriented animated films? Find out now on Movieology!

    J. Edgar ★½

‘J. Edgar’ sorely disappointed Clint Eastwood’s fans and critics alike. Oddly enough, however, it still has received praise and awards in spite of itself. Many believe it will still be lauded at the Academy Awards and receive multiple nominations. Is this justifiable? Are the critics and audiences out of their minds for not giving honor to this art where it is due? Or is the truth as complicated and nefarious as this latest film with a homosexual agenda? Find out now on Movieology!

How to be a Christian and Work in Hollywood

DeVon Franklin practices what he preaches. He’s a Christian that works for as a V.P. at Columbia Pictures. DeVon’s book ‘Produced by Faith’, released a few months back, tells how he is able to live his faith *faithfully* and be a filmmaker in Hollywood at the same time. Is this reconcilable with a biblical worldview? Or is DeVon less than consistently faithful to work for such a movie studio?

Weekend Wrapup: Mission Impossible Still Strong in Box Offices

‘Mission Impossible’ is still showing impressive results in the box office. We are not too surprised, and actually a bit grateful that ‘Sherlock Holmes’ has declined. This reinvented detective franchise has not been among our favorites in the first two installments, whereas, we do believe that the dynamic duo of Brad Bird and J.J. Abrams of ‘Mission Impossible’ does deserve more attention from theater patrons.

The Hobbit’s First Trailer (It’s a Great One!)

‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ get’s an awesome trailer! We half-way expected this first trailer to disappoint — as so many teaser trailers do. Not only is there Middle Earth substance to this preview, we see parallels to the ‘Lord of the Rings’ films we had not anticipated, and we garner an appreciation for Martin Freeman filling the feet of Bilbo Baggins (the movie’s namesake).

    The Christmas Movies You Forgot

Part of the joy of Christmastime is that you have permission to watch the same movies over and over and listen to the same carols on repeat. There’s a certain festivity and nostalgia in the sameness of the season. But even your holiday favorites lose a little of their tinsel sparkle after the third or fourth viewing. … Have you watched Home Alone so many times you know the total of Kevin’s pizza delivery order ($11.80)? Does your family still try to laugh like they’ve never heard the dad mispronounce “fragile” on A Christmas Story (fraah-gee-lay)?
