Abrahamic Covenant: Fulfilled or Postponed? (Part 1) – August 22, 2005 – All prophetic eyes are on Israel. A majority of fundamentalists believe that what happens in the Middle East determines the fate of the world. The world moves at Israel’s pace. For the dispensationalist, what the rest of the world does is irrelevant and meaningless because not only are all prophetic eyes on Israel, but God’s eyes are on Israel.

Abrahamic Covenant: Fulfilled or Postponed? (Part 2)
– August 23, 2005
– Prior to the establishment of the Abrahamic covenant, God instituted the Noahic covenant. Even though “the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth,” God says that He “will never again destroy every living thing” (Gen 8:21). The everlasting nature of this covenantal promise is so secure that the earth itself would have to pass away in order for it to be postponed, put off, or revoked (8:22).

Answering the "Replacement Theology" Critics (Part 1) – October 7, 2005 – Replacement theology has become dispensationalism's latest prophetic boogeyman. If you want to end a debate over eschatology, just charge your opponent with holding to replacement theology. What is “replacement theology,” sometimes called “supersessionism,” and why do dispensationalists accuse non-dispensationalists of holding it?

Answering the "Replacement Theology" Critics (Part 2)
– October 10, 2005 – The pre-tribulational rapture is a necessary doctrine in dispensational theology in order to maintain the Israel-Church distinction, a distinction that has been in effect for nearly two millennia, a thousand years longer that the premillennialist’s earthly millennium. The dispensationalists begin with the claim that God’s redemptive program to Israel failed at Jesus’ first coming.

Answering the "Replacement Theology" Critics (Part 3)
– October 11, 2005 – Now that we’ve gotten some preliminaries out of the way, what is the truth behind the charge that non-dispensationalists believe in “replacement theology,” that the Church replaces ethnic Israel and her promises and that God is through with Israel forever?

Answering the "Replacement Theology" Critics (Part 4)
– October 14, 2005 – Non-dispensationalists like me would say that all the promises made to Israel have been fulfilled, and the redemption of Israel according to those promises made it possible for Gentiles to be grafted into an already existing Jewish assembly of believers that the Bible calls the Church. Soon after Jesus’ ascension, the gospel is preached to “Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men, from every nation under heaven” (Acts 2:5).

The Antichrist Fraud
– December 22, 2004 – Could the Bible be any more clear? According to the Bible, antichrist is not a single individual, a world-wide political manipulator of the religious masses.

A Review of The Remnant – What many people who read LaHaye's The Remnant fail to grasp is that two-thirds of the Jews living in Israel today will be slaughtered, and for every three Jews who decide to make Israel their home in the future, two will be killed during the Great Tribulation.

"All Israel will be saved": Notes on Romans 11:26 – October 22, 2004 – Why preach the gospel to the Jews if they're all going to be saved?

Bible Prophecy and the "Good Old Days"– October 13, 2005

The Bloody Future of Israel in Dispensational Eschatology – IN THE LIVING END , Charles Ryrie claims that the Bible predicts "the time of Israel's greatest bloodbath."

The Boom in Doom – June 20, 2007 – Papers of Isaac Newton have surfaced that show that he predicted the end of the world would take place no earlier than the year 2060, exactly 1,260 years after the foundation of the Holy Roman Empire.1 His calculation is based on passages that use “ 1260 days” ... “42 months” ... “time, times, half a time” (Dan. 7:5; 12:7; Rev. 11:2–3; 12:6; 12:14; 13:5). These periods of time are interpreted to mean 1,260 years.

The Dark Side of Dispensational Theology—The Future Jewish Holocaust A Response to Ed Hindson's "The New Last Days Scoffers" (Part 4) – June 2, 2005 – Dr. Hindson raised the issue of “antisemitism” in his article “The New Last Days Scoffers” that was published in the May 2005 issue of the National Liberty Journal. Without offering any proof or cogent arguments to defend his charge, Dr. Hindson claimed that preterist theology “certainly leans” to antisemitism.

The Date of Revelation: Geisler vs. Geisler - July 25, 2007 - In the ongoing debate over Bible prophecy, a number of issues keep coming up. One of the biggest disputes is on the dating of Revelation. Was Revelation written prior to the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 or nearly 40 years later?

The Dispensational Kook Factor – September 16, 2005

Dispensationalism’s Interpretive Inconsistencies - July 23, 2007 - Dispensational author Paul Benware accuses preterists of not interpreting prophetic passages in a literal way. As an example, he points to Matthew 24:29: “But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”

Does Prophecy Really Matter? – June 8, 2007 - American Vision is often asked why we deal with the controversial subject of Bible prophecy. After all, shouldn't we just focus on America's Christian history or even the Gospel? Great question. Besides the fact that more than 25% of the Bible contains prophetic texts, Paul tells Timothy that "...the WHOLE Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable to teach, to convince, to correct, and to instruct in righteousness."

Earthquakes and the End Revisited – December 31, 2004 – My December 27th article, Earthquakes: Are They a Sign of the End, prompted a number of responses. There was one particular email that was especially meaningful and moving for me.

Earthquakes: Are They a Sign of the End – December 27, 2004 – How can earthquakes be a sign of the end when devastating earthquakes, even greater than this most recent one, have been recorded for thousands of years?

Hiding the Truth at Liberty: A Response to Ed Hindson’s “The New Last Days Scoffers” (Part 1) – May 26, 2005
– Jerry Falwell’s National Liberty Journal, a publication of Liberty University, published two articles in its May 2005 issue on the topic of preterism. Preterists teach that the majority of NT prophecies have already been fulfilled in events leading up to and including the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.

Is Israel's Land Prophetically Significant? – September 30, 2005

Israel, Gaza, Land and the "Rapture" – August 19, 2005

John MacArthur, Israel, Calvinism, and Postmillenialism — Part 1 – July 2, 2007 – A number of people have asked me to respond to a talk that John MacArthur delivered at the 2007 Shepherds’ Conference. It seemed a little out of character for MacArthur because it had a mean-spirited tone to it. It also sounded desperate, as if he has been hearing the foundation stones of dispensationalism cracking all around him.

John MacArthur, Israel, Calvinism, and Postmillenialism — Part 2 – July 3, 2007 – John MacArthur laid down the gauntlet on the issue of prophecy in his opening talk at the 2007 “Shepherds’ Conference.” He was emphatic that only dispensationalism takes the prophecies concerning the future of Israel seriously.7

John MacArthur, Israel, Calvinism, and Postmillenialism — Part 3 – July 5, 2007 – The place of Israel in Bible prophecy has a long history among non-dispensational theologians going back at least to John Calvin. “By virtue of this, [Paul] teaches, the Jews are the first and natural heirs of the gospel, except to the extent that by their ungratefulness they were forsaken as unworthy—yet forsaken in such a way that the heavenly blessing has not departed utterly from their nation.

Letting the Bible Speak for Itself—The Literal Meaning of "This Generation" A Response to Ed Hindson's "The New Last Days Scoffers" (Part 6) – June 17, 2005 – Ed Hindson, writing in the May 2005 issue of the National Liberty Journal on the topic of “The New Last Days Scoffers, states that “The basic assumptions of preterism rest on passages that refer to Christ coming “quickly” (Revelation 1:1), or ‘this generation will not pass’ (Matthew 24:34). [Preterists] insist these must be related to and limited to the first century.

Making the Bible Say Its Opposite—Taking a Closer Look at the Time Texts A Response to Ed Hindson's "The New Last Days Scoffers" (Part 5) – June 3, 2005 – Dr. Hindson’s article “The New Last Days Scoffers” takes aim at a number of preterist arguments, most of which do not stand if the time texts are properly understood. He states that “the basic assumptions of preterism rest on passages that refer to Christ coming ‘quickly’ (Revelation 1:1), or ‘this generation will not pass’ (Matthew 24:34).

Meet the Real Last Days Scoffers: A Response to Ed Hindson’s “The New Last Days Scoffers” (Part 2) – May 27, 2005 – The point of departure for Dr. Hindson’s article, found in the May 2005 edition of the National Liberty Journal, is 2 Peter 3:3–4: “Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming...?"

Norman Geisler and "This Generation" – July 10, 2007 – One of the foundation stones of dispensationalism in particular and futurism in general is the claim that “this generation” in Matthew 24:34 either refers to a future generation (“the generation that sees these signs”) or the Jewish race.

Norman Geisler, "You," & "Zecheriah, the Son of Bereciah" – July 9, 2007 – Since the publication of the first edition of the Scofield Reference Bible in 1907, dispensationalism has mostly dominated the field of Bible prophecy. There have been several critiques of dispensationalism over the years, Oswald T. Allis's Prophecy and the Church being the first comrehensive study (1946).

Pay No Attention to that Man on the Tape – January 3, 2006

Peddling Prophetic Snake Oil – September 22, 2005

The Prophecies of Daniel: Why They Do Not Point to Us - August 27, 2007 - For Hal Lindsey, every news story is a sign that we are living in the “rapture generation.” It wasn’t too long ago that he claimed in his wildly popular prophetic book The Late Great Planet Earth (1970) that the “this generation” of Matthew 24:34 would end sometime before 1988 (1948+40 years=1988). In an interview published in Christianity Today (April 15, 1977), Ward Gasque asked Lindsey: “But what if you’re wrong?” Lindsey replied: “Well, there’s just a split second’s difference between a hero and a bum.

Stand Up for What You Believe – February 2, 2006

Things Revealed - July 26, 2007 - The first verse of the Bible tells us much about the character and nature of God. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Far removed from modern evidential apologetic methods, the Bible never once attempts to “prove” God’s existence. Throughout the entire canon of Scripture, God’s existence is presumed.

Trimming & Cooking the Prophetic Parts of the Bible - July 18, 2007 - Paul N. Benware’s revised and expanded edition of Understanding End Times Prophecy includes a chapter on Preterism. This is a good sign.

What Does the Bible Literally Say? – November 7, 2005

When All Else Fails Use the "A" Word—Anti-Semitism! A Response to Ed Hindson's "The New Last Days Scoffers" (Part 3) – May 31, 2005 – If you ever find yourself in trouble when you’re in a debate, there is a sure-fire way of diverting attention from the inadequacies of your arguments and the strengths of your opponent’s arguments.

Why is the Religious Vote Getting Smaller? – September 24, 2004 – I believe that the major decline in voter strength among evangelicals is the result of eschatology, the belief of millions of Christians that we are living in the last days.
