I received a good number of responsesâ€”not all in favor of my report of Dawkins’ emotion-based argument for protecting Gorillas. Of course, none of those opposing me actually addressed the issue itself (I suppose it is hard to come to the intellectual aid of admittedly emotion-driven claims), instead, they offer what they seem to believe are effective comebacks.

Once the atheist throws out the Pearl of Great Price of the kingdom of God, what fills the void? Does lack of faith make one vulnerable to dangerous ideologies that mimic the spiritual needs we are created with? To ask the question is to answer it.
