A mini-storage facility uses edgy ads to get the attention of customers. The latest billboard not only advertises its storage facilities but promotes its pro-abortion agenda. The ad causing controversy carries a picture of a coat hanger along with the following copy: “Your closet space is shrinking as fast as her right to choose.” Since New York is overwhelmingly liberal and pro-abortion, only a minority are disgusted with the advertising message.

I like attention-getting advertisements. It’s a shame that Christians aren’t as clever or willing to make their case against abortion using similar finger-in-the eye approaches. How about, “Help keep abortion legal. It cuts down on crime.” This slogan actually has some academic muscle behind it. The authors of Freakonomics, which has sold more than three million copies, assert that there is a link between legalized abortion and the reduction of crime.[1] This is logical. If crimes are committed by people who are alive, and you kill some of them before they can commit crimes, therefore crime will be reduced.

Abortion also reduces the number of doctors, policemen, philanthropists, engineers, artists, and every other group. One could argue that prohibiting abortion leads to political freedom. In 1966, Communist dictator Nicolae CeauÅŸescu outlawed abortion. Moral consciousness had nothing to do with his new anti-abortion laws. “The fetus,” he claimed, “is the property of the entire society. Anyone who avoids having children is a deserter who abandons the laws of national continuity.”[2] More children meant more Communists. The irony is “that his demise was precipitated in large measure by the youth of Romania—a great number of whom, were it not for his abortion ban, would never have been born at all.”[3]

How about this ad? “Keep abortion and birth control legal. It kills off all the right people.” Who’s getting most of the abortions? Liberals. Who’s having fewer babies? Liberals. At least one very liberal columnist has noticed the problem:

For the past 30 years or so, conservatives—particularly those of the right-wing red-state Christian strain—have been out-breeding liberals by a margin of at least 20 percent, if not far more. . . . One theory goes like this: Libs are generally more socially conscious and hence tend to actually give a modicum of thought to what it means to pop out a brood of children in this modern overstuffed age. Also, many other liberal bohos**[4]** are (admittedly) happy selfish suckwads who want all the modern booty for themselves and won’t want to give up the Ducati and the plasma and the biannual trip to Cinque Terre for the sake of a pod of rug rats and 15 grand a year (each) for private kindergarten. Translation: Libs just aren’t procreating like they could/should be.[5]

A billboard located in minority neighborhoods might get some people to think about what they are doing when they decide to kill their preborn babies since abortion has been described by some black leaders, including Jesse Jackson at one time,[6] as “black genocide.” Here are a few statistics that African Americans might not be aware of:

  • Between 1882 and 1968, 3,446 Blacks were lynched in the U.S. That number is surpassed in less than 3 days by abortion.
  • 1,452 African-American children are killed each day by abortion.
  • 3 out of 5 pregnant African-American women will abort their child.
  • Since 1973 there have been over 13 million Black children killed and their mothers victimized by the U.S. abortion industry.[7]

How long do you think abortion would be legal in America if Blacks actually thought about the long-term consequences of this government-supported act?

Another billboard might carry this message: “Abortion supports illegal immigration.” One of the arguments for amnesty for illegal aliens is that America is short of workers. We wouldn’t have the need for an illegal workforce if we hadn’t killed 50 million preborn babies since 1973.

Here’s a billboard slogan that might get someone’s attention. “Support Islam. Have an abortion.” Muslim immigrants in Europe are reproducing themselves in greater numbers than the indigenous European population, although this is beginning to change ever so slightly.[8] Europeans have seen the Muslim writing on the wall. The majority of Muslims don’t practice birth control, and abortion is considered a sin. Based on demographic projections alone, it won’t take too long before Europe is a Muslim majority if non-Muslims don’t start getting busy.

My advice to those who are offended by the pro-abortion advertisements is this: Develop your own signs to drive home the point that abortion not only kills a human life, it kills the future.

They further never talk about aborting a baby because that would imply something human. Rather they talk about aborting the fetus. Fetus sounds less than human and therefore abortion can be justified.”
